One Plus One Equals Three: The Epstein Family Inspirational Challenge to Find a Cure for Alzheimer’s Disease

By making a gift today, you can help redefine Alzheimer’s research and care to find effective treatments for this devastating disease.

Epstein ChallengeUC San Diego has never been known for following tradition. We are world changers. Risk takers. And thanks to a generous, $50 million joint gift from the Epstein Family Foundation to UC San Diego and the University of Southern California (USC), we are bringing our spirit of changemaking to catalyze new collaborations in Alzheimer’s disease research and to accelerate the search for treatments and a cure.

Split evenly between UC San Diego and USC, the funding supports existing research at each university and will spark new combined efforts to discover effective therapies for Alzheimer’s disease. For the Epstein family, Alzheimer’s disease is deeply personal as they experienced its devastating effects in their own lives. There are countless other people around the world who have a similar story.

But the Epstein family recognizes that when we work together, our sum is greater than our parts. When we work together, we can solve any challenge. We believe that too. As we begin to leverage the strengths of both universities in the field of Alzheimer’s research, we invite our community to join us by helping us leverage this gift.
