How Your Gift Helps

When making a gift to support your child’s school, you can choose what areas you would like to support.

  • The Parents Fund. Helps maintain and strengthen UC San Diego’s Student Affairs programs, and creates a pool of flexible dollars for each of the university’s six colleges— Revelle, John Muir, Thurgood Marshall, Warren, Eleanor Roosevelt and Sixth.
  • Provost’s Fund. Each of the six colleges has a separate Provost’s Fund, which is used at the discretion of the provost to support the college’s greatest needs.

Whether you choose to give to the Parents Fund or to a Provost’s Fund, gifts of any size help provide essential complements to classroom instruction and enrich your child’s education. Following is just a sampling of the many ways in which your gifts help students build leadership qualities and learn organizational skills.

  • Model United Nations: Model UN members take on the role of diplomats and form delegations to attend conferences where student delegates debate international issues and resolve international conflicts.
  • Muir College Musical Ensemble: An annual production, this is the only musical on the UC San Diego campus that is performed and produced entirely by undergraduate students from all six colleges.
  • Partner in Education: Colleges partner with charter schools in our district and UC San Diego students are actively recruited to staff and tutor at these schools.
  • Revelle in Rome: Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for students to study and explore Rome during a five-week summer session.
  • Student Symposia: Inspiring speakers to present subjects ranging from the history of desegregation to global human rights to health issues.
  • And there’s more: Free newspapers including the San Diego Union-Tribune and New York Times for students, campus symposiums, free bike loans and artist-in-residency programs are all made possible through the generosity of parents and families.

Whatever area you choose to support, your gift will have an impact on your student's education.
